I have sick kids! I don't understand it because I keep a pretty clean house. (no comments please...lol) When you have your first child, everything is sterilized. Toys are frequently washed and rotated for appropriate age/developmental stage. Clothes are gently washed in the "for babies only" soap, and schedules are kept. Then the second one comes along...toys are not washed like they used to...I think I may wipe down a toy with my sleeve now and blow on it..."there, that's good enough." Hand me downs are thrown on the second child with holes, stains, and not matching. You start to think...oh, right...I should probably teach this kid some stuff..."let's see what I have time for..." I say this mostly kidding just to prove a point that it is a much harder battle to keep up like you did the first one. I was a proud mother with my first of how together I had it...I am still trying to keep my reputation up...LOL.
Thursday night, Manny did not sleep much unless he was cradled in my shoulder that I am going to physical therapy for. Poor kid, during the day that day he had to be awoken so I could take Ava to her first swimming lesson. He had a total of about an hour and a 1/2 all day for a nap, and for a seven month old that is not enough sleep. It makes for a bad night...which we experienced. On top of it, we noticed his nose running. When you sleep with a baby in your arms, you kind of do an awake sleep thing...it is really hard to explain, your sleeping but very aware of your child. It is not restful in the least.
Friday I had to take Ava to the Dr.'s. Poor thing was constipated. I have never been constipated so I can only imagine her discomfort. As we are sitting in the Dr.'s waiting room, she starts sniffling. I am thinking she is copying another older kid who was sniffling...and older I mean about 13...he neglected to get up and get himself a tissue, nor did his mother and I have to say it was really GROSS...he was a loud sniffler. I loudly made a point for Ava to stop sniffling (to give the older kid a hint) and get a tissue. She did and Mr. Sniffler did nothing. Ick. From there, she got sicker. She gets respiratory infections easily so we did a nebulizer treatment right away when we came home and had some medicine and soup.
Everyone slept like a rock on Friday night...we put Manny in his stroller so he was upright and safe and could get some rest. Worked so good!
I started Saturday off like Fred Flintstone in his little car. We had all slept until 8am and for you non parents reading this, that is like sleeping until 9am on a work day when you had to be there at 9. Ava had her first soccer practice at 9:30...we raced around the house feeding both kids, dressing them (and ourselves) and frantically trying to find her soccer gear. We managed to find the shoes but had no luck with the shin pads or socks. Ugh. It was a beautiful day though and the Munchkins soccer team is adorable. They play on a field that overlooks this beautiful beach and the water...it puts you in a trance like state when you look at it. From there, I flew home to give Manny a proper nap, feed my husband who missed out on breakfast and get myself together for a photo shoot. The shoot was awesome and the weather could not have been better.
In the afternoon, I worked on the photos and started to clean my cluttered house while Jose took the kids out for a walk. I managed to get rid of some baby clothes and return some that were borrowed and cleaned out Manny's closet. It was a start...to look at things you would have no idea I did anything at all. From there, I met up with my second photo shoot and ended the night with a trip to Red Robin with the family.
Today we headed to Quincy for a good old fashioned Sunday dinner like we always used to have before everyone's lives got super busy. The menu was macaroni to start with of course, a roasted chicken with roasted potatoes and salad with bread. The wine was good, the company better and I think I may have wet my pants laughing with my sisters over the banana bread I made that I was sure to tell everyone who came near it that I had made it.
Here are a couple of photos from the shoots....I have to get some of my own kids and soon!
Have a great week!
Enjoy!
